STEM and Science Youth Development Instructor

Qualifications

  • 18+ years of age
  • Enrollment in Central Background Registry
  • CPR/First Aid certified
  • Food Handler’s certification
  • Reliable transportation and ability to drive to program locations in Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin, and Wilsonville
  • Knowledge of child development and appropriate developmental practices
  • Flexibility and willingness to work alongside lead teachers and assistant teachers

Availability

  • Monday-Friday between the hours of 1:30-6:00 p.m. with weekly planning time (20 hrs/wk)
  • Additional hours available on In-Service Days, Early Release Days, and school breaks

Job-Type and Salary

  • Part-time at $14.00-$16.00 per hour, dependent on experience and education

Teacher Responsibilities

  • Develops objective- and process-based lesson plans that cover a variety of STEAM and science-based topics. Develops all relevant resources, including, but not limited to, supply lists, content for marketing materials, supplemental handouts, etc.
  • Inspects and maintains curriculum supplies/equipment for safety purposes prior to each activity at each site.
  • Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness and safe environment of the Innovation Station designated space is appropriately maintained at all times.
  • Utilizes designated space to create a safe, fun, and developmentally appropriate environment.
  • Plans and organizes the daily Innovation Station lessons at each Club K site.
  • Oversees the implementation of Innovation Station lesson plans, making adjustments to content in response to individual student and group needs.
  • Supervises students during all Innovation Station activities, and assists them in making appropriate choices and successfully engaging in all activities.
  • Monitor and reinforce appropriate student behaviors, maintaining consistent supervision and setting clear and reasonable expectations.
  • Recognizes the social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of the children and counsels students utilizing developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Assists each site in complying with all federal and state laws and licensing, as well as company and site specific policies and procedures.
